Introducing our incredible catwalkers:

Marcella Pesce

An avid athlete, Marcella had just completed a triathlon when, in November 2023, she was stunned by a breast cancer diagnosis. An Italian mother of four, she faced chemotherapy and its challenges with remarkable resilience, refusing to let them define her.

Through this journey, Marcella learned to slow down, embrace positivity and find strength in every moment. Her experience deepened her empathy for those in pain, shaping her into a stronger, more compassionate person with a profound appreciation for life. As she reflects on her journey, she shares this powerful message:

“Never stop believing in your strength. You are capable of more than you ever imagined.”

Salbiah Binte Mohd Nenggal

Salbiah Nenggal’s 60th birthday year in 2022 was a milestone she would never forget – but not for the reasons she expected. Just a month after celebrating, she was diagnosed with breast cancer, compounding an already difficult period in her life. She was still recovering from a fractured ankle after a fall in her newly-renovated kitchen – a source of stress in itself.   As she endured the side effects of chemotherapy, she also faced the heartbreak of losing her beloved cat. The combined hardships left her physically drained, mentally shaken, and emotionally exhausted.

Yet, through it all, Salbiah showed extraordinary strength, resilience, and self-reliance. She firmly believes that as cancer survivors, they can achieve so much more together—that through shared strength and collective support, they can create miracles. To her, participating in the Courage Catwalk is more than just an empowering event for survivors; it is a celebration of triumph over breast cancer and a powerful platform to raise awareness and normalise conversations about the disease.

Parameswary D/O Veerasingam

When Parameswary was diagnosed with Stage 2 ER+ breast cancer in 2016, she re-evaluated her work-life balance and refocused on what truly mattered. She embraced the present—cherishing meaningful moments with loved ones, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures and prioritising happiness.

Her journey also ignited her passion for breast cancer advocacy. Determined to support others facing treatment, she became a strong voice for early detection. She encourages younger women to take charge of their health with this powerful message: “You are your own best advocate—be bold, be informed, and never hesitate to prioritise your well-being.”
