Dr Joy Lee is our senior consultant practicing at Solis. Prior to joining Solis, Dr Lee has been running her own speciality private practice in Breast Surgery at Mount Alvernia Hospital since 1997. Specialising in the surgical treatment of breast conditions and breast cancer, Dr Lee is experienced in breast conservation with a focus on cosmetic preservation, and has also performed minimally invasive surgery including ultrasound and stereotatic vacuum-assisted biopsies since 2000.
After graduating from the Medical Faculty at the National University of Singapore in 1985, Dr Lee obtained a Post-Graduate Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (FRCS Ed) in 1990 and Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine Singapore in General Surgery. 5 years later, she was awarded a fellowship by the Singapore Cancer Society and Singapore General Hospital and completed her sub-speciality training in Breast Surgery at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, USA.
Dr Lee returned shortly after to Singapore and began practising as a general and breast surgeon at the Singapore General Hospital. During this time, she was awarded the National Medical Council Research Grant in 1995, in addition to completing the National research project on the Gamma probe localization for sentinel lymph node biopsy for breast cancer as Principal Lead Investigator. In the following year, Dr Lee was a part of the pilot Singapore Breast Cancer Screening Program.
As an established member of the faculty for regional meetings and conferences centred around breast cancer, Dr Lee is not only a long-time and active speaker at international conferences, courses and meetings centred around Breast Surgery, but also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and The American Society of Breast Diseases with multiple published research papers on screening, diagnosis and treatment on Breast Cancer under her belt.
